Booklet Research

Image
Fonts:  I looked at quite a few different fonts, trying to find one that is readable, but also fits the logo and the general theme. I found some really cool ones, which can be seen below, but the one that really stood out to me was Potra, a font that looks very similar to the idea of the logo. The second and third place would be Heimdal and Astrobia. Extra Effects: I looked into a glitch effect on a photo, since it would be very similar to the glitching effect in the video, but it was too messy and distorted the images too much, so I decided not to follow that idea through.  Inspiration images:  It took me a while to come up with an idea of how to show connection, technology and disconnection all at the same time, as the two things are the opposites of each other, but I did some research into similar style to the logo and came up with an idea of intrigued circuits, which show both connection and technology... The disconnection part...

Some great editing work has been done over the last few days. Clips are being cut, color graded, music and sounds added in to create the final work for the group project.

Behind the Scene - House

Originally, we were planning to leave this filming to the end of the week, but an opportunity came to film it later so off we went! Our happy actor after filming first few shots. "Eoin, don't talk, you are sitting in your kitchen alone!". Also, the mess on the table... Well, what is out of frame doesn't exist. So professional! Some more practice shots True dedication... Poor Eoin though, freezing in his thin top. Some outside filming. Look at that sky!

Video Analysis (Research)

Image
"David" is a short movie made for a competition. It uses extreme close ups to fool the viewer into thinking that someone is preparing for an important day or event, while the reality is far darker and is showed at the very end of the video - it's indeed an important day - a funeral. It's fantastic plot twist, one that really wasn't expected. We would like to do something similar with our video - but instead, show the darker side of the video in extreme close ups as it plays on, and at the end revealing the full view. While done on a much larger scale and far more complex in style, the video has a similar theme to our own project. It uses Point of View, glitch effect and on-screen information bars and tabs. Another very similar approach to the theme. It uses fair mix of PoV and Third person perspective. Has some nice on-screen graphics which suggest that most of the video takes place in VR.
