Script - Connected but Disconnected Generation Draft - OLD
Connected but Disconnected Generation
Theme - Acceptance and Awareness are our main themes involving our story with technology. we've based our story in the environment where technology's position in our lives should be a more aware concern rather than an accepted so blinded by it's affects.
Story - A VR Gamer decides to take on an achievement in a game involving 24 hour periods with and without technology. These actions will forward our story evolving the storyline set for acknowledgement of the influence of technology has in our world today through this character.
Plot - Jacob undergoes with the achievement/ challenge of 24 hours with and without technology. He begins the period of which is without technology first. Boredom kicks in really quickly and ends up struggling to find entertainment. He begins to travel throughout the city, ignoring his surroundings and not seeing the bigger picture with meanings of things existing.( this is a major plot point and subject we are trying to put across as newer generations are getting distracted because of technology. It's an escape from real life events, less digitized. unaware of the surroundings and what the world continues to build up too; further downfall of capability of providing for life.) Eventually Jacob completes this, And returns to gaming with his friends.
Important part of this plot also is that the period of time without technology will be the longest part compared to the gaming because we are trying to evidently show the passage of time with this story. When you get engaged with technology or some sort of escape with enjoyment, you lose track of time and in the view of younger generations, doing something they don't want to results in time slowing moving forward.

*Time passes*
They lose the game, Jacob shows a little frustration.
Jacob's monitor receives a notification about the VR game in which of interest, he downloads it. Included is text mentioning rewards like a free game of his choices for completing the VR game.
Jacob: "GG"
Dustin: "I need to go off for 15 minutes, need something to eat."
Jacob: "I'm gonna go off too guys, let this new game download and try it out."
Eddie: "Okay, cool."
Ace: "Alri."
Once downloaded, Jacob attachs his VR headset and begins to navigate the menu, Jacobs reads the context of the game by a description; "Immerse into the once known great world of which creation lays beyond our incoherence."
Jacob has 2 options, 24 hours with technology and 24 hours with technology, Jacob chooses 24 hours without for a challenge before an easy ending to his experience.
The story will then follow Jacob's avatar which is himself still as he journey's throughout waypoints on his hud (go pro view with after effects). The waypoints are key locations to enjoying life and witness what technology is doing in our everyday lives but Jacob can't make sense of what the purpose is for this. These moments don't stay out for Jacob as they have no importance or relevance to what he wants to see. He will travel to many locations and feel lost, confused and bored all at once.
Scene 2 - 6:
Jacob: "I have a waypoint leading me northeast 4.8 miles away..... What is in Howth Harbor I wonder, I hope it's more exciting than this game intro so far."
Jacob arrives at Howth Harbor;
Jacob:"Well whats here? I smell fish, salt and whatever is coming from that warehouse god... Am I suppose to pick up something?, wait for somebody or have I glitched the game already?."
Minutes pass and Jacob decides to walk beyond the waypoint down towards the pier, He quicksaves his progress to see if a glitch occurred with him game. Once done, his waypoint had moved to Bull Island. 3.2 miles away. Jacob travels to investigate.
Jacob: "My avatar is collecting sand on my clothes, maybe beaches isn't my thing."
Jacob reaches his waypoint at a statue beyond a wall of rubble. This point casts such a view of Dublin Bay, Dublin Harbour and Howth Island too but Jacob ceases to realise due to the cold, uncomforting feeling of being out there.
Jacob: "What is the point in all this? I know I wouldn't pay for this game, What is this? A historcial Geography contraption with no inter meaning or resolve. This is bollocks."
Jacob receives one more waypoint; Wicklow Mountains to observe the view of the whole of Dublin as an extraordinary view.
Jacob: "Well, this serves no purpose, Why am I here? am I suppose to leap of faith of something or take a screenshot? I am really glad there's only a few hours left."
The game stalls Jacob's progression onto the next stage at the end to see if it can convince Jacob to just truly look and preserve what lies before him and what has become of it. He then teleports back to a gaming setup to play a multitude of games.
Jacob: "What's this? all these games for free? What else have I got to do."
Jacob proceeds to play these games throughout his time period with endless joy and fun, A true escape from reality within a reality. Before he knew it, the 24 hours where up and completed the achievement.
Jacob returns to play games with his friends while his pre ordered free game arrives within days. Jacob also boasts about how the game was pointless and had no meaning.
Meanwhile a VR Developer by the name Jurgen Alioski is watching Jacob's response to playing his game through a camera planted on his monitor. Jurgen's reaction to this is of a disappointing manner as his goal is to capture the beauty of the world again for kids with outdoor exploring but due to the developed ways of technology into young peoples minds and schedules now, They could not see his vision of what he sees.
Our end goal - The purpose of this short movie is to capture the lack of interest from young generations onto other important aspects of life. Jacob during his journey struggles to realise what's around him and instead focuses on trying to find something that isn't there from his view being a game. Being connected with technology all the time now with smart televisions for cartoons and tablets, its not all necessary good for us, the majority of the young population in the world do have a gaming console or pc or even both. Games were created to escape real life so that's one of main focuses for kids with technology. Another is phones.
