Meeting #5 15.11

Present:
  • Adriana,
  • Andrej
  • David
  • Eoin

Today meeting was all about storyboarding and prototype. On monday we planned out that everyone will write up their plot and draw out their storyboards, and that on the Thursday meeting, we will present, discuss and vote.

Ada:
4 videos - 1-2 mins each. Theme: A day in life throughout the time.
Videos will start the same way and end the same way.
Each movie will show not only change in technology, but person with keen eye will also notice change in fashion, architecture, camera style as well as quality of the life.

Messages to take away from it:
  • Thinking about how the future is going to look like;
  • If we will end up like the person in the last video;
  • Realise that life is passing by;
  • Or... just sit, watch, don't think at all. It's easier.
Eoin:
Also a day in life, but based more in 2018. 3-4 mins movie. Showing that the technology is taking up our lives... and even if we try to get rid of it, it still comes back, no matter how hard we try.

Messages:
  • Life controlled by devices.
  • No matter how hard we try, we can't escape the cycle of being manipulated and controlled by devices.

David:
8-10 mins long video about person coming back in time, because the world gets destroyed due to human actions. He then gets to experience the life, the way it is now, not the way it is in the future.

Messages:
  • Value of small things.
  • Our actions have consequences.

Andrej:
A vlog-type video, 5-6 mins long, discussing the millennium generation "Z". Similar in style to Casey Neistat's "You Can't"

And so, after hearing all the ideas, we started the voting process. It wasn't too difficult. We were all ordering the ideas from 1-3, based on how much we liked it.
Ada and Eoin got 7 points each, while David and Andrej got 5.
A draw.
So... we solved it with a flip of a coin.
Ada's idea won and became the base for the final project.

Next step was talking about leadership. We were all a bit over the place, and decided we needed that we need someone who will manage us. (Thanks Eoin for the suggestion)
And the team had decided that Ada will take the role of the leader/manager, as she(or me!) already deals with organizing the meetings and so on.

Prototype:
It was decided that we will mainly prototype the video. We would like to make a small clip exploring the idea of connected but disconnected. At first, we thought of taking out a part of the main idea and filming it... but we decided not to, just yet. Instead, we went with part of Eoin's storyboard, which talked about a person immediately disconnecting from the people and surroundings as soon as he or she hears the "ding" sound of a message.

We might also do some photography in the spare time, to prototype that idea.

Then, we reminded ourselves that everything has to be put in the blog to show that we are thinking and progressing.
